To prevent the tolling of the statute of limitations under ORS 12.155(2), a person who makes a payment to compensate for injury to or destruction of property, before legal liability for that damage has been determined, may give written notice of the date of the expiration of the statute of limitations to “each person entitled to recover damages for the * * * injury or destruction” within 30 days of the date of the payment.
