This cause was heard upon the record in the trial court. Each error assigned has been reviewed and the following disposition is made:

INTRODUCTION

{¶ 1} Shuan Cleland was accused of breaking into his estranged wife's apartment, killing her boyfriend, and trying to make it look like a suicide. While represented by court-appointed counsel, Mr. Cleland entered a plea agreement with the State. Under the terms of the agreement, Mr. Cleland pleaded guilty to aggravated murder by prior calculation and design, kidnapping, and aggravated burglary. In exchange, the State agreed…
