WALKER, Circuit Judge:

The government appeals from a judgment of conviction entered in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York (Charles S. Haight, District Judge). On appeal, the government challenges the district court’s authority to depart downward from Williams’s guideline sentencing range so that he could enter a drug treatment program to which he had been admitted. Although we believe that the district court had authority to depart downward in the circumstances of this case, we vacate the sentence so that the district court can impose a special condition of…
