OPINION

ALDRICH, Senior Circuit Judge. *

On May 2, 1976, about 7:00 A. M., flames rising from the foot of her electric blanket woke Mrs. Richard Gediman from a sound sleep. Her outcry brought Mr. Gediman, who had risen an hour earlier and was elsewhere in the house. Their joint but futile attempts to put out the fire, which included dragging the flaming blanket and queen-size mattress into the hall, resulted in their both being burned. Mr. Gediman then called the fire department, but the fire spread and the whole house was ultimately badly damaged and virtually its entire contents allegedly…
