I wish to take this opportunity to commend Judge Moats on his very thorough and well-reasoned opinion in this case. Athough the assignments of error presented were numerous and, at times, quite complex, the resulting opinion will prove to be an invaluable resource to members of the bench and the bar faced with similar issues and, most especially, as to the precise procedure to be followed in determining the correctness of a punitive damages award.
