McLAUGPILIN, Circuit Judge.

This is a seaman’s personal injury suit under the Jones Act, 41 Stat. 1007, 46 U.S.C.A. § 688. At the end of the plaintiff’s case, the Court below granted the defense motion for a direction of verdict. Plaintiff appeals from the judgment entered against him on the verdict. 1

Gold, the plaintiff, was third cook on defendants’ Liberty ship, “James Swan”,, which, on November 22, 1946 was taking supplies aboard at Savannah, Georgia. The amended complaint alleges that plaintiff was required to do excessive work in loading ship’s stores. Among other things, it charges that…
