Hudson was employed for the year 1906 by Phillips & Compaq, a corporation, at a stated salary. At the' end of that year the president of the company informed him that the year had been prosperous and that the company had decided to give him, in addition to his earned salary, a bonus of $1,000, which was paid him in cash. (This, however, is not involved in the direct question now before us.)
