¶ 1. The State of Wisconsin (State) seeks review of a published decision of the court of appeals 1 that reversed the defendant's convictions as a repeat offender of first-degree sexual assault, kidnapping while armed, robbery, threat to injure, and armed burglary. The State asserts that the circuit court properly excluded evidence of prior consensual sexual relations between the defendant and the complainant, and correctly permitted the State to admit hostile letters written by the defendant for purposes of impeaching a witness.
