STATEMENT OF THE CASE

Deputy Marshals William Pfifer and Connie Pritchard (the “Marshals”) brought suit against the Town of Edinburgh and the Edinburgh Town Council (collectively, the “Council”) when they learned their employment would end after the next year’s town budget eliminated funding for their positions within the police department. The parties filed cross-motions for summary judgment in which they agreed there were no genuine issues of material fact.
