Following an October 25, 1991, hearing on the State’s emergency petition for involuntary admission pursuant to the Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities Code (Mental Health Code or Code) (405 ILCS 5/3 — 600 et seq. (West 1992)), the circuit court entered an order finding respondent, Rita Guzik, to be a person subject to involuntary admission. The petition had alleged that she was in need of immediate hospitalization because she was mentally ill and because of her illness was unable to provide for her basic physical needs so as to guard herself from serious harm.
