This action was brought to recover the amount (662) of two notes, one for the sum of $450 and the other for the sum of $500. We are concerned only with the latter note as the other is not in controversy. The note for $500 was executed by the defendant to his mother, Sarah F. Edwards, on the 8th day of June 1888, and was payable eight years after its date with six per cent interest. The defendant, having admitted the execution of the note, avers that it was transferred, endorsed and given to him by his mother, and he also avers that if the transfer from his mother was void he acquired title to…
