OPINION

SHEA, Justice.

In January 1984 the defendants, along with three others, were tried before a jury in the Superior Court on charges of malicious injury to property in violation of G.L. 1956 (1981 Reenactment) § 11-44-1 and trespass in violation of a North Kingstown town ordinance. The jury found all the defendants guilty as charged. Sentences were imposed of six months’ imprisonment with five months suspended and five months’ probation on the malicious-injury charge, along with fines on the trespass charge.
