Defendant was convicted by a jury, on November 29, 1972, of rape, MCLA 750.520; MSA 28.788. He was sentenced to 25 to 40 years in prison. He now appeals as of right.

The defendant did not dispute the fact that a rape had been committed or that he had commit ted it. In fact, defense counsel did not cross-examine the complainant. Defendant’s defense was that he was insane at the time the offense was committed. His entire defense consisted of the testimony of two psychiatrists.
