On the evening of September 23, 1983, plaintiff returned to the place where he parked his 1981 Ford Thunderbird automobile. The car was missing and presumed stolen. The loss was reported to the police and the insurance company. In a stroke of rare good luck, the car was found by the New York City Police Department on September 24, 1983.
