In 1926, Benjamin and Jennie Timmerman, husband and wife, farmers, residing in Fillmore township, Allegan county, owned certificates for 335 shares of stock of the Woodley Petroleum Company, of the market value of $9 per share. Richard Bultman, an agent and salesman in the employ of defendant Henry L. Doherty & Company, but not then known to plaintiffs to be such, solicited that he be intrusted with the sale of the certificates, and, October 4, 1926, upon his representation that he was a duly licensed dealer, and his exhibition to plaintiffs of a bond in the sum of $10,000, signed by…
