OPINION

FIDEL, Judge.

The Industrial Commission found the claimant Clyde Simpson’s industrial injury medically stationary without permanent disability. We review and set aside that award. In the course of our opinion, we consider the fourth edition of the American Medical Association Guides to the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment (“the Guides”), which provides, as previous editions did not, for the rating of chronic pain. We consider whether, by virtue of this revision, the Guides provide the exclusive means for evaluating permanent impairment attributable to persistent residual pain. We…
