MEMORANDUM OPINION

BATES, District Judge.

Presently before the court in this action seeking to recover benefits pursuant to the provisions of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (“ERISA”), 29 U.S.C. § 1001 et seq., are the cross motions for summary judgment filed by plaintiff Carolyn Buford and defendant UNUM Life Insurance Company of America (“UNUM”). For the reasons that follow, the Court will grant defendant’s motion and deny plaintiffs motion, and accordingly judgment will be entered in favor of defendant.
