I. INTRODUCTION

Pursuant to verdicts, the defendant-appellant, Jeffry E. Menuey, was adjudged guilty on each of two counts of criminal nonsupport of his children, in violation of Neb. Rev. Stat. § 28-706 (Reissue 1985). He was thereafter sentenced on the first count to imprisonment for a period of 1 year and on the second count to probation for a period of 5 years.
