CONNOR, Justice.
This petition for a writ of mandamus 1 requires us to construe AS 12.55.050, Alaska’s habitual criminal statute. 2
On July 5, 1969, Tyrone Davenport committed burglary. 3 He was convicted of this offense on December 24, 1969. On July 1, 1971, Davenport committed the offense of receiving and concealing stolen goods. On September 22,1971 he committed an assault with a dangerous weapon.
