OPINION OF THE COURT

CLAUSEN, Chief Judge:

On 14 March 1977, appellant was charged with wrongful possession of heroin1 in violation of Article 134, Uniform Code of Military Justice, 10 U.S.C. § 934. Appellant, pursuant to the terms of a pretrial agreement, entered a plea of guilty to the charged offense. Although the pretrial agreement fails to reflect the maximum punishment to which appellant would be subject, it is apparent from the record of trial2 that all parties believed the maximum punishment for the charged offense to be dishonorable discharge, forfeiture of all pay and allowances,…
