The plaintiffs are ninety-six employees of the defendant, Hartford Special, Inc., 1 who are either retired or eligible to retire. The defendant adopted a plan of complete liquidation under which certain retirement benefits, consisting of life and health insurance coverage, would be terminated. The plaintiffs sued to enjoin the termination of those benefits and for damages, and obtained an ex parte attachment of real estate of the defendant in the amount of $1,000,000.
