OPINION
SHEA, J.
This matter is before the Supreme Court on appeal by the plaintiffs from an order denying and dismissing their complaint on the ground that it failed to state a claim upon which relief could be granted. We affirm.
By letter addressed to the director of the Department of Administration of the State of Rhode Island, the Providence Journal Company and Bruce Landis, a staff writer (plaintiffs), requested access to certain records relating to employees of the State of Rhode Island (the records).
