The appellant, Jeffrey J. Knoll, was a student at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln (UNL). He was hazed by members of the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity (FIJI), which hazing resulted in severe injuries. Knoll brought a tort action against the Board of Regents of the University of Nebraska (University), and both parties filed for summary judgment. The trial court granted summary judgment to the University, finding no duty.
