LEWIS, Judge.

On 7 June 1990 plaintiff, executrix for the estate of her father, Dr. Jacobs, filed this action seeking compensatory and punitive damages for the wrongful death of her father pursuant to N.C.G.S. § 28A-18-2. The defendants are Brian Center of Asheboro, Inc., a skilled nursing care facility, Brian Center Management Corporation, its parent company (both hereinafter referred to as “Brian Center”), the physicians assigned to care for Dr. Jacobs, and their professional association, Asheboro Family Physicians, Inc.
