Milton McCombs, a minor nine years of age, by *717another as next friend, brought a suit for damages against Southern Railway Company and one Eugene Grace, alleging that in crossing a bridge erected by the defendant railway company over its railroad in the city of Rome and forming a part of a public street known as Calhoun Avenue, he, the plaintiff, was enveloped in a cloud of smoke, dust, and cinders negligently emitted from a locomotive of the defendant, which was passing under the bridge, and that at the same time the other defendant, who was crossing the bridge in an automobile, negligently…
