After a trial to the jury, the defendant was found guilty of robbery in the second degree, in violation of General Statutes § 53a-135 (a) (1), and of larceny in the second degree, in violation of General Statutes §§ 53a-119 and 53a-123 (a) (1). In his appeal from the judgment rendered thereon, he claims that the court erred in excluding from evidence a third party’s statement against penal interest exculpatory to the defendant, thereby depriving the defendant of his constitutional rights.
