Powell, a longshoreman, who is not a party to this appeal, brought an action for injuries he had suffered aboard a vessel owned by Isthmian Lines, Inc., when he was struck by a forklift truck owned by West Coast Terminals Company of California, a corporation. The action was against Isthmian and West Coast. Powell was employed by Schirmer Stevedoring Company, Ltd., a corporation. Isthmian cross-complained against Schirmer and West Coast.
