The defendants, David Wilk, Heidi Erickson, Danny Brown and Eddie Wright, pleaded guilty, and were convicted and sentenced on separate and unrelated charges. Their cases were consolidated for the purpose of this appeal because they raise similar questions of law related to Illinois Supreme Court Rule 604(d) (107 Ill. 2d R. 604(d)). Each of these defendants had filed a notice of appeal to the appellate court.
