Deckers Outdoor Corp., the company that owns the popular UGG brand, filed this lawsuit against Australian Leather Pty. Ltd., and its owner, Adnan Oygur, asserting claims for trademark and design patent infringement, because Australian Leather sells boots called "ugg boots." Defendants filed counterclaims and affirmative defenses, asserting, among other things, that Deckers's trademarks containing the word UGG should be canceled or that Deckers should be barred from enforcing them.
