Carole Chestnut appeals a Superior Court judgment in favor of her aunt, Elsa Goodman. The jury found that Chestnut was liable for negligent misrepresentation when she convinced Goodman to give her an interest in a property on St. Croix in exchange for Chestnut’s promise to move to the island and care for Goodman in her advancing age. Chestnut argues that the Superior Court should have granted her motion for summary judgment, as well as her motion for judgment as a matter of law, because Goodman gave her an interest in the property…
