This case involves an attempt to upset a deed between a woman and her husband on the ground that it was procured through undue influence.

Plaintiffs are the stepchildren of Julia Merkiel. Their natural mother, Helen Kar, died in 1914. In that same year Julia married John Kar, plaintiffs’ father. She cared for his children as if they were her own. The property involved in this lawsuit, a farm near Belleville, Michigan, was purchased by John and Julia in 1917.
