These are four actions of tort to recover for personal injuries and property damage, alleged to have been sustained by reason of a defect in, or want of repair of, a highway in the defendant town. At the time of the accident, three of the plaintiffs were riding in a one-seated *125democrat wagon — William E. Watson and Olive J. Watson on the seat, and their daughter (the plaintiff Taylor) between them on a stool placed in front.
