This case is before this court on automatic and direct review of defendant’s conviction and sentence of death for three counts of aggravated murder. See ORS 138.012 (providing for direct review in the Supreme Court when jury imposes a death sentence). The same jury also convicted defendant of multiple charges of murder, conspiracy, solicitation, robbery, and kidnapping. Defendant seeks reversal of his convictions on the three counts of aggravated murder and on various other counts including, as relevant here, his conviction based on allegations that he kidnapped the victim.…
