The defendant was found guilty of the crime of arson in the first degree in violation of General Statutes § SSa-lll.1 Upon conviction, he was sentenced to a definite term in prison and transferred to the Whiting Forensic Institute, the trial court having found that the defendant was mentally ill and dangerous to himself and others.
