DE HAVEN, District Judge.

On the 13th of August, 1899, the libelant shipped as a boatswain on the baile Leiderhorn for a voyage from Hamburg, Germany, to San Francisco, Cal., and return to Europe by way of various ports. The voyage was for a term of three years, and the libelant was to be paid for his services at the rate of four pounds per month.
