(after stating the facts as above). The art to which the invention of the patent in suit relates is that of so treating fibrous vegetable substances as to prepare them to be made into, papefi. The raw materials used in the manufacture of paper comprise wood pulp, rags, straw, hemp, flax, jute, and so forth. Erom these materials come the cellulose fibers, matted or felted into a sheet, of which paper consists. It is necessary to free the cellulose fibers from all incrusting matter from which they must be isolated and set free. This is accomplished by cooking the raw materials with chemicals.…
