Petitioners, the Mayor, Police Commissioner and Police Department of the City of New York (hereinafter NYPD), appeal from an order of the Appellate Division confirming the determinations of the New York City Human Rights Commission granting retroactive relief to various present or past *293female police officers against the NYPD for what the Commission had found was a pattern of discrimination against female officers.
