Defendant was convicted by a jury of murder in the first degree with penalty of life imprisonment.

The facts in this case read like a story taken from the Arabian Nights. In May, 1943, defendant, who was then living in Norfolk, Virginia, with his wife, Goldie, to whom he had been married for about eight years, enlisted in the Navy. While he was away from home in the service, his wife became acquainted with the deceased, Lieutenant White, who was also in the Navy.
