Louis Bruce, Warden, Hutchinson Correctional Facility, and Stephen Six, Kansas Attorney General (collectively, the “state”) appeal the district court’s grant of habeas relief under 28 U.S.C. § 2254. The district court concluded the petitioner, Floyd Bledsoe (Floyd), was denied his constitutional right to the effective assistance of counsel. Floyd had been previously convicted by a jury of first degree murder, aggravated kidnapping, and aggravated indecent liberties with a child.
