On December 11, 1930, before the hour when banks in the city of New York open for the transaction of business, the Superintendent of Banks of the State of New York took possession of the business and property of the Bank of United States pursuant to the provisions of the Banking Law (Cons. Laws, ch. 2). In the course of liquidation of the affairs of the bank, and before July 1, 1932, the Superintendent of Banks determined that the reasonable value of the assets of the bank was not sufficient to pay its creditors in full.
