OPINION
DROWOTA, Justice.
We granted this interlocutory appeal to determine whether the defendant, a subsid iary of a quasi-municipal corporation, is exempt from the Workers’ Compensation Act pursuant to Tenn.Code Ann. § 50-6-106(5) (1991 Repl. & Supp.1997). For the reasons herein explained, we conclude that the statutory exemption applies. Accordingly, we reverse the judgment of the Chancellor and enter summary judgment in favor of the defendant, Humboldt General Hospital, Inc.
