The brothers John and James Milton were convicted, after a jury trial, of stealing “money ... of the United States or of any department or agency thereof,” in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 641; aiding and abetting the making of materially false statements, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 1001; and conspiracy, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 371. The court sentenced John Milton to concurrent terms of 37 months’ imprisonment on each count and, after reconsideration, ordered him to pay $43,751.82 in restitution; the court sentenced…
