MANSMANN, Circuit Judge.

In this civil forfeiture action, the United States appeals the district court’s decision that particular “uses” ascribed to a certain parcel of real estate by the owner did. not subject that property to forfeiture under 21 U.S.C.A. § 881(a)(7) (West Supp.1991).

We hold that because the property was admittedly pledged to obtain a home equity loan to finance an illegal drug transaction, despite the fact that the funds were not ultimately used for that purpose and were returned to the bank, forfeiture of the property is mandated by the federal narcotics…
