Matson, Justice.

Defendants appeal from an order denying their motion for judgment notwithstanding the verdict or for a new trial.

Plaintiff’s action is for damages for the wrongful death of her husband, Earl K. Standafer. Decedent, as an independent contractor in the moving and hauling business, on May 12, 1948, was hired by one of defendants’ tenants to move a bookcase from the sixth floor of the New York Life building in Minneapolis to another *124building.
