The question in this case is whether during a judicial review of a psychologist’s certification for short-term treatment of a person alleged to be mentally ill, the person so certified may invoke the psychologist-client privilege in order to prevent the certifying psychologist from testifying to information obtained from that person during an emergency evaluation, when such information is necessary to an informed decision on whether the person is mentally ill and, as a result of such mental illness, is a danger to others or to himself and thus is in need of short-term treatment.
