Layton, Chief Justice:

The plaintiff declared in debt to recover the aggregate of assessments levied against the defendants as subscribers to or members of Keystone Indemnity Exchange, a reciprocal or inter-insurance exchange, organized under the laws of the State of Pennsylvania, and now dissolved.

The declaration alleged that Keystone Indemnity Exchange was a reciprocal insurance exchange consisting of individuals, partnerships and corporations of the commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and of other states and countries associated together as subscribers, and authorized to exchange reciprocal or…
