William Mers, plaintiff-appellee, brought a claim against his former employer, the Dis patch Printing Company, defendant-appellant, for damages from breach of contract. The jury returned a verdict in favor of plaintiff on both contract and promissory estoppel claims in the amount of $57,750. Defendant moved for judgment notwithstanding the verdict and, in the alternative, a new trial. The trial court reduced plaintiffs damage award on his contract claim to $50,000 and on his promissory estoppel claim to $11,953.50 and rendered judgment accordingly.
