This is an action in lieu of prerogative writ whereby plaintiffs seek “reinstatement” as members of the Park Police of Essex County, contending that they were illegally dismissed in violation of the tenure provisions of the County Parks Act. The Superior Court, Law Division, entered judgment directing the Essex County Park Commission to “restore” plaintiffs to their positions, but the Appellate Division reversed. We granted plaintiffs’ petition for certification.
