HARPER, J.

The plaintiff in error, Jon B. Chase (plaintiff), 1 brings this writ of error to challenge the judgment of the trial court denying his motion for the return of property seized from him by the state police. The plaintiff claims that the court improperly denied his motion and awarded ownership of the property to another individual. We conclude that the plaintiff could have sought appellate review of the judgment by way of a direct appeal and, therefore, dismiss the writ of error as procedurally improper.
