OPINION
NORTON, Judge.
Respondent Rick Ridler timely filed a charge of sex discrimination with the Minnesota Department of Human Rights on August 30, 1985. The charge was later withdrawn and the matter was heard de novo by the trial court. Ridler alleged that Olivia Public School, Independent School District No. 653 (school), discriminated against him on the basis of sex and marital status in violation of the Minnesota Human Rights Act (MHRA), Minn.Stat. § 363.03, subd. l(2)(a), (2)(c), (4)(a) (1984).
